Does betting on horse racing help the industry?

Bit of an odd one, could be walking on egg shells in here.

So I enjoy betting on horse races and have been for 6 months. However im starting to question the ethics. Mainly the idea that the majority of horses bred are not winning horses and end up being fed to cats.

Im trying to figure out if placing bets will have a support on the industry. I have been winning over the past 6months so obviously that doesnt help the industry, but im also aware that this is a tiny sample and i could very vell be supporting the industry in the long run through my betting.

Maybe their are offshore bookmakers who dont pay any contribution levys, or dont choose to pay for advertising on tracks etc?
