This years Swedish Open Field Championship is being held on the island of Little Bratton, near Gothenburg. It's a very scenic place with views of the archipelago in all directions.

The island can only be reached with as short 5 minute ferry or boat trip. The ferry leaves from a small harbour on the bigger island Tjörn (which is connected to the mainland with a bridge). Some archers stay in the few houses or traditional cabins that are on the island while others will camp or stay in hotels on the mainland.

Hosted by the Angereds Archery Club, this years Championships have been taking place over the past two days. On the first day, Thursday, an unmarked 24 target course was shot. Today, the course was marked and tomorrow the Elimination Rounds and shoot-offs for the semi-finals and finals will take place.

The results of the first days shooting in the barebow categories were phenomenal.

On the unmarked course Erik Jonsson shot a personal best that equals the world record set by Giuseppe Seimandi on a marked course and exceeds the record set by Pasi Ahjokivi on an unmarked course.

These are the combined scores for the first two days:

As you can see the visitors, Timo Leskinen and Ulrike Koini, are holding their own.

None of these pictures are my own. They are taken from the facebook pages of Angereds Bågskyttar club and Västerviks Bågskytteklubb.

My thanks to the photographers for making their work available.

WE, it should be a good time to be shooting woodies.

Maybe the special ones that come from Australia.
