reporting restrictions

So there's a high court case ongoing and it relates to a persons right to privacy. There appears to be restrictions on what reporters can report about the case, as if they were published, it is claimed the case would be pointless.

Can people go to the court and then tell their friends/family what happened? Where is the line between "journalists" and individuals?

I don't want any comment about the case, its just about reporting restrictions in general.
