new build alarm

    Mods please feel free to move this if not in right place. OK so I'm building a house and looking at putting an alarm on it before expensive stuff starts getting delivered has anyone any advice on alarms for houses under construction

    ..first question I'd ask is you have electricity and/or phoneline onsite already ??

    An alarm on it's own would be useless - you need to be looking/thinking about CCTV of some kind (even basic). That or Netwatch type service.

    Electricity yes phone line no.. Would it be best to get phonline sorted and to go with something like eircom phone watch or what's the best.. Really want to protect house before stuff goes into it that can be stollen

    Run cat 5 everywhere.
    We have just done my mams and used the cat 5 for HD Online Cameras.
    You would need Internet acces for them to work with the phone app but you could also get the alarm panel to text you when it is activated.

    Problem with up cameras is bandwidth on the network. Analogue cameras are higher quality but can still write to a HDD.

    I won't pretend to understand the difference :)
    My brother is an ADT Engineer and he done it. I'll just be the one making sure my dad can run the app and doesn't blow it up!
