Comes with; case, cables, sd card, power adapter.

Have the Pi1 set up with XBMC, works decently enough, Pi2 should be a fairly good performance increase.

I've set up a Pi2 for my parents and its flying even over Wi-fi to a mediocre broadband.

I am not a fan of ibood. Delivery time can be months. Customer support is poor. Queries on their sales page are rarely answered. Apart from that, they are fabulous.

This is a much better offer than the Ibood offer imho, Wireless network and remote for the media player is perfect. What is the "handling charge" for though?

Its actually quite reasonable- it includes a remote/wireless receiver and a USB wifi adaptor- neither or which ship with the iBood offer- so even @ €98- its still reasonable enough. Its the add-ons that really cost you- and if you go with the iBood offer- you are inevitably going to have to get additional peripherals (most probably the aforementioned remote/wireless receiver and the wifi adaptor).

The wifi usb adaptor is €12
IR Controller board €14 (if you decide to go for a usb adaptor- its wildly more expensive- possibly as much as €30-€35)
    IR Media Centre Controller €15
(you could go cheapo and get a crap credit card thingy- for about €15- but its not something that you'd actually want)

A combined keyboard/mouse of reasonable quality- is probably €50'ish (combo of good quality). You could pick up separate peripherals- but it gets messy- and most people will want a touch pad rather than a mouse for use with this.

It can get very expensive- very very quickly. At least with the CPC offer- while its not cheap- you're getting far more bang for your bucks........

Just a general comment (not on the particular deals). If you have a newish tv it most likely has CEC which will give you full control of the pi with the tv's remote thus removing the need for an additional remote. Once its up and running you could also get away without a keyboard so usuing a normal usb wired one to set it up could save some money or borrow a wireless one.

I have a B+ and use the tv's remote for everything once I figured out how to "right-click" with the remote I took away the wireless keyboard for other uses.

aliexpress also have a usb wifi adaptor for 5er delivered, I have it and it works well. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/150Mbps-USB-Wireless-Adapter-WiFi-802-11n-150M-Network-Lan-Card-for-PC-Laptop-Raspberry-Pi/32254902570.html

For me anyway getting my PI up and running as cheaply as possible was the aim and things really do start to add up for instance I had to get a powered usb hub for HDD's so I think making savings where you can when putting it together is a good idea.

What system are you using? Im on osmc and got around external hdd power issue by ticking the option "max usb current" in osmc settings.

I have a Pi B+ running raspbmc. I read up plenty on it and the consensus is that the Pi isn't able to properly and safely power a usb powered Hard drive on its own.

I have a B+ running full time with a new 1tb HDD connected to it.

Works fine once you change the settings for the USB ports. Need a decent power supply as well

It won't however power a USB drive with a Y connector.

You dont need a physical remote or a physical keyboard & mouse though.

Depends on how you intend to use the device. If its a dedicated media player- nope you don't. Many of us here though- will probably use it for a myriad of other purposes.
