Ok so I quit my job back in September after being on maternity leave with 2nd child, childcare was going to take such a chunk out of salary for 2 kids I decided it wasn't worth it. Anyway fast forward 9 months since I quit and things are extremely tight, we have tried to make it work on one salary but have come to the realisation it isn't working. My oldest will start the free ecce year in sept so childcare costs will reduce and I also miss work. If I go now to claim job seekers what are they likely to say? Is there some penalty for not applying as soon as you finish a job? I didn't apply before as I wasn't looking for a job but now that I am can I get it? Thanks

I think it should be OK, it's true you couldn't apply for jsb unless you are job seeking.

Just be sure you have enough stamps to claim, it goes on the year before your claim.
