Vodafone modem question

    Hi all.

    i have recently signed up to a vodafone broadband package. The line in my house can deliver 12mbps, where im living is remote so i consider that good.

    I have a garage that I work in at night, its approx 35 feet from where the HG658c thingy is positioned. Id like to be able to get coverage in my garage.

    Apparently this thing is rubbish, do i need it, can i buy a completely new unit and replace it?

    or is it needed to communicate with vodafone......



    I realise im going to have to do some reading on this.. I dont even know is this is a router, a modem or a gateway.

    You have a couple of options assuming you get the HG658c.

    1. Buy a 15m+network cable and run it out to the garage. Then connect an access point to the other end of the cable to give you good coverage in the garage.

    2. Switch the HG658c into bridged mode and get a more powerful wifi router (I have the Netgear R7000 (which I might be putting on adverts soon) and an Apple Airport Extreme). Either of those should extend the range out to the garage.

    And yes, I found the HG658c wifi network fairly dire.....
