Hi. I'm putting together a build with a view to ordering in the next fortnight. I just wanted to run it by the more learned folks here to make sure it's decent enough. It'll be used for gaming, and graphics editing (still, not motion). I'd like it to last a few years, the the option of upgrading GPU and RAM maybe 24 months, maybe adding an extra GPU. You get the idea. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Realistically, are you going to need to SLI? At 1080p, you won't, any higher, you should be looking at AMD cards.

If you decide you won't be using SLI or CF then get a cheaper motherboard, ASRock Pro4 or something would do. If you decide you might still like 2 GPUs, an ASRock Extreme3 should still be fine for you.

A Xeon 1231v3 CPU is what I'd put instead of the 4690k, eliminate the need for an additional cooler too. Hyperthreading can be useful in video editing. Its a similar price to the i5. If you'd like the possibility of OC'ing to squeeze and extra bit from the CPU in time keep the i5.

Crucial BX100 250gb SSD is about €20 cheaper, feck all on this budget I suppose, your call there.

450w PSU is loads for a single 970, upgrade with the GPU if you add a second one.

Tidy bit of cash on the case, I don't know.much about cases so I won't comment there.
