Probably got the idea from a few videos on LiveLeak.

That doesn't seem cruel at all if true. Didn't they execute some minister by way of pack of dogs? An AA gun isn't going to leave you suffering in pain.

Actually if I was to be executed I can think of a lot (which in itself is worrying you might agree) of ways I would choose the air craft gun over. I imagine the power of such a weapon would make the experience pretty instant. Given the history of execution methods our species has thought up for enemies and heathens over the centuries - this one looks pretty humane.

Horrific. A bizarre despot using fear to hold on to control in a bizarre country.

    Wow,
It seems they executed the defence minister with an anti aircraft gun.

As horrifying as it might seem as first, this might actually be quite humane. It would be a quick end at least. I'd choose it over their other chosen method - starving dogs.

He really DID catch flak for his actions.

Not Really. It sends a message of who is in control to the rest of his high ranking officials and cronies who would think otherwise.

They probably got some poor bastards to clean up the mess too.

Lots of theatre, but that's basically the old Soviet equivalent of the .50-cal. I'd be rather more impressed with the dude's chutzpah if he was using a 40mm Bofors.

I thought they used a ZSU23, that has 4 23mm auto cannons. Instant mince meat if used on a person.

Apparently, the story of the starving dogs was not true, and was a story that originated in Hong Kong.
Given how extreme the regime of NK are, it was believed by most people, given how crazy the NK leadership are.

I agree with you, I guess it would just be the horror of facing that gun, waiting for the moment, not the actual death itself, more the moments leading up to it.
a rifle is accurate, a gun like this, your gonna know about it for a second before a shell actually finds the decisive shot.

Didn't his father used to execute some of his officers via artillery fire?

Obvious mis-information campaign to prevent enemies of the great leader from assassinating his people!

I'm not sure, but apparently the current looder used mortar artillery to execute an army officer in 2012. :pac:

They say this guy was executed because he apparently fell asleep during one of the dear leader's speeches? I would say there's more to it than that!!

There's a video floating about on the internet of a guy being executed with an anti-aircraft gun. Tbh, if I had a choice between that and lethal injection, I'd go with the former.

Also, who 'broke' this story? There's a load of South Korean news agencies that simply peddle bull**** about the North constantly. Propaganda works both ways.

I'm told it started as a satirical post by some Chinese microblogger chappie.

i wouldn't. i'd say the nutter is nutty enough to execute for something as trivial as that. the sooner this cancerous verminous filth is eradicated and the country can build itself up the better. sadly though, that won't be in my lifetime if at all

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

I never stop harping on about this book, but I really recommend reading 'The Cleanest Race' for a great analysis of North Korea.

Apparently he was asked was there any specific style of execution he'd prefer...

Yeh I was thinking, it makes no logical sense why they would starve dogs anyway. Sure they would have nothing to eat then

"..the agency also believes that North Korea used a firing squad in March to execute four senior members of the Unhasu Orchestra, a Pyongyang music and performing arts troupe".

In fairness, they probably deserved it.

It turned out that story wasn't true, nor the stories concerning an ex-girlfriend etc. While North Korea is a brutal repressive regime and doubtless bumps off opponents, tales out of there (or supposedly out of there, a lot come from Hong Kong tabloids) have to be taken with a great deal of salt.

Don't they have salt mines too for these tales ?

Quite possibly. They've certainly "Summer camps" year round.

In fairness if I were a brutal dictator with a stockpile of weapons I'll never use to back up my empty threats I'd probably try and find some use for them to.

Id take this story with a pinch of salt. N. Korea has a habit of releasing false information to the S.Korea intelligence then these people who are supposed to be dead turn up on State TV few months later, to discredit the south.

But could be real alright, mad man Kim must have come off his buzz testing all those new shiny nuclear sub toys.

AA Flak? Instant shredding. Id still prefer if they missed and I could run away to safety.
