EGR Valve causing humming?

    Went to the garage the other day, and my mechanic said I've an oily EGR valve, and it'll need to be replaced. Just wondering if this could be the cause of the faint humming sound that's coming off the engine, or is it likely another issue?

    EGR can coke up but if there is oil on it something else is wrong

    if you have a turbo it could be leaking oil seals
