Tax on new car when purchased

    Bought a car the other day with tax on it do I wait till it expires , or do I have to get tax again

    If it's taxed it's taxed. You pay from when it runs out.

    Motor tax stays with the car so you don't have to pay until the current tax expires.

    In Ireland, motortax is assigned to the car, so when car changes owners tax is unaffected.
    Same story with NCT.
    Insurance though stays with owner, so if you buy a car, you need to get your own insurance for it.
