Why is tv3 picture quality so god damn poor? I never watch a match on the channel because of it, I just turn over to ITV for Tuesdays matches. Itv is not HD either but the quality is better. They better sort it out for the rugby world cup.

Not HD but very good quality for me on Eircom in Sligo!

It's atrocious altogether! If you have sky, it's easy to tune in ITV HD.

Yes ITV HD all the way, it will be shocking if TV3 don't have HD sorted before the Rugby World Cup.

TV3 have already announced they will have HD for the Rugby world cup.

Not long away now and not heard of any test broadcasts. Given how poor their SD is I shudder to think about their attempt at HD

The world cup isn't on until September.

4.5 months away. Have they the infrastructure in place? Tested pre broadcast? Nothing coming from ballymount yet

There wont be any tests on satellite until the end of August at least. That is assuming they launch it when the world cup starts.

Was watching tv3 and 3e on sky last night and it was un watchable...GF said the same while big brother was on so stuck on channel 5 HD through Add channels,

They would want to get a move on with the HD, RTE 2 HD was available on saorview a right while until it was available on sky and id assume it would go the same way for TV3.

It's a joke that TV3 HD is not going on Saorview as it's ridiculous to have it just for Sky & UPC viewers. They do need to understand that there is probably a limited amount of advertising revenue they can get from who can afford the subscriptions to see it in HD on Sky & UPC. If they give viewers more access to HD on Saorview and also when Evision is a subscription service they will get even more money for themselves.

I am thankful though that I have ITV HD to watch the RWC and BBC One HD to watch the FTA FA Cup games including the Final. The higher picture quality justifies the programming and the audience that are watching the channel at that particular time of the day.

I wouldn't be surprised if TV3 said they can't afford to go Saorview but I wonder how much it is for a HD channel to go on Evision. That is a job for TV3 to look into and find out because those viewers on there may benefit from HD in the future.
