Do you think it would be possible to build Vipers with existing technology? They're sublight and all you would need are thrusters and smaller ones at the aft, stern and bow. They seem quite similar to F1 cars in design, only problem would be radiation shielding but we wouldn't have to worry much about that inside the Van Allen belt. Also nano metals or an electro magnetic shield generator could be built for deep space missions. Another issue would be nukes which would be quite a payload with the lead shielding, at least in terms of getting them into space but they could be delivered separately and attached to the ships. Honestly I can't see any obstacles to building them, at least they look cooler than NASA's Orion spacecraft or it's envisioned Mars ship which is a rectangle pretty much. One thing Battlestar does that no other sci fi show has really done since Star Trek is make one yearn for much more rapid progression in space tech and AI, that's quite an achievement really, right now our level of tech is very, very primitive.
