Spam email from new email address

    Hi,
    Over the weekend, I created a new email address, specifically for job applications. I signed up to Jobs.ie and Indeed.ie using this email, and i applied for around 5 jobs. Yesterday and today, i received spam email from codecademy, and plus500. I didn't sign up to these sites using the new email, or even visited the sites recently, although i signed up to the two sites with a different email address, that i have been using for 3 years. Would it be likley that the sites i signed up gave away my email, or is this google targeting me with 'ads'.

    It possible you have consented to them sharing your email address either by virtue of signing up the job site or by an option; have you read their privacy policies?
