Looking for an independent mechanic in Dublin/Kildare - anyone in this area specialise in Subaru? Nothing drastic right now, just a service, but would like to find someone reliable to use.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I'd have to recommend the Neary New Motor company out by Lusk, Co. Dublin.

The head mechanic is Peter Finnegan. Honest, decent guy and as a company their back bone is repeat business from locals from around Lusk, Rush and Skerries.

They're dealers for Subaru but I can't but recommend their servicing highly enough.

A few times I've gone in with such a noise or a knocking thinking it was some particular part/system but they'd say, 'no, it's only X, Y, Z'

I've bought 1 car new and 1 car secondhand from them.

I agree it sounds like a sales pitch but feel free to pm and I can give you more details if you like.

And by the way, lucky you owning a Subaru!

    Nice cars.

Have you had any inherent failures with them?

I've bought parts from Peter Finnegan over the phone and found him good to deal with. Actually I found all the various Subaru service mangers / head mechanics very helpful. Whether it was getting service history or just pricing/ordering window motors, window switches, rad hoses.

Cheers, it's actually the wife's, I only drive it if we are taking a trip together with the clan.

Only had it since September. It's a 2007 2.5 auto and hasn't given us any bother. Had the timing belt done when we bought it. It appears to have been well kept.

It is sore on fuel but it doesn't put up big miles.

Cheers for the recommendation but Lusk is probably too far. I work on the south of the M50 so it doesn't suit us.

Wasn't there a Scooby dealer out the back of maynooth? This could be going back a few years

Did Ray Crofton used to be Subaru (now Suzuki, Kia, Mitsubishi)? He's on the Celbridge Road. Or were you thinking of someone else?
