I am trying help my grandmother sell some shares she inherited from my grandfather.

I believe that she needs to pay CGT , can anyone tell me which date this needs to be calculated from. Is it the date that he died? Or the date that the shares officially became hers after probation?

There is about months between the dates and the share price changed by about €2 per share also.

The value at date of transfer - the date he died, i would have thought as all CGT is ignored upon death.

Base cost on the CGT calculation for your grandmother will be the cost of the shares on date of her inheriting the shares
