    Hi All,

Heading to a wedding in the summer where the bride is from Ireland but living in Australia a number of years, (Boyfriend is from New Zealand)

So i came up with the idea with broadcasting the Wedding online for people who are unable to make it over,

Its in a wifi zone(LAN maybe available from hotel where the ceremony is been held) and i have 3G if that fails,Im also Using open broadcaster to broadcast to twitch or Youtube.

So boardies, Has anyone here ever done this before or any advice on equipment(Cameras,Microphones etc)?

I would take a look at Periscope - you can broadcast with a good smartphone and internet. I'm getting married in France in July and I'm giving the videographer my iphone to broadcast it.

Also see if they have a videographer - they might have a spare camera that might be good to broadcast with.

Sound will be your issue. No point in doing it if you can wear anything. I recommend hiring some battery powered radio mics stick them on the priest and on the main table.

Its alot of work to fill hours of a church and people eating and not many people will watch it live.

Maybe record the main bits on your phone and upload them after to a private you tube account semi live so people can see it on the day and guests will look back at the videos after the main day too.

Yea i have the Periscope app which is cool but i feel that i want a choice between having the broadcast available to a private view or a number of people who have the link, Not sure if i want the entire world watching in,Just friends and family.

All good ideas there, My plans was to have one mic near a speaker so that sound shouldn't be too much of an issue,

Good idea on the Semi-Live video, Ill look into that also as it means less worries and easier to do.

Who actually going to want to watch this who isn't actually at the wedding?
I can't think of anything worse to have to watch for 90 mins.

In our case my granny is 96 and won't make it over to our wedding in France so she's looking forward to being able to see the action. A girl in work got married in Mayo and the church had a live stream and we all had it on in the background at work and loved it!

Ah I suppose I'm a lady so probably come at it from a different perspective.
I wonder are there weddings were the male is more into the whole thing and does more what they want style wise etc and does most of the planning. Wonder how they'd be different.

Still can't picture wanting to see, it's bad enough going to the church bit in person. You fel though you've earned your party after that and the speeches.

Have you checked to make sure the church doesn't already have this facility? I presume you have, but just in case! Our local church has a live stream - I've only heard of it being used for funerals, but I assume it could be used for weddings too

I've no advice but a friend of a friend did this for her Vegas wedding. My friend said that her friends & family that couldn't be there loved it & got to feel part of the day.

I'm very interested to see how it works. I'd say fast connection is the key here.

What are they going to say to the woman who just got married, it was a bit crap and we were actually out cutting the grass and not watching. And when the girl was asked, so did they like watching online, what is she going to say, no they thought it was a bit crap. People will say what you want to hear a lot of the time.
Or the bride, it's like when people get pregnant and it's not planned, they say, oh we're not sure how it happened we use condoms, they don't say we were blind drunk and had sex minus a condom.

If I were you, hire a decent videographer and tell them the situation and ensure the speeches are also taped.
Really don't think the live setup is a good idea given it'll be mostly amateur.
I think those you intend to watch it would much rather a good professional recording of highlights rather than an amateur live feed.
