    Hello Boards.ie crew!

A few of you may remember me from my study abroad stint at UCD last year. Most would probably call it more of an extended golf trip with pesky classes interspersed between rounds, but I did manage to get all my credits transferred back to Clemson!

As an update, I graduated from Clemson this past December with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and I'm still pursuing the Golf Course Architecture dream. I'm currently working for Medalist Golf, Inc. on the construction side of the equation in Houston, Texas (River Oaks Country Club and a Fazio renovation).

I want to experience as many facets of the game as I can while I'm "young" and consequently I've always wanted to be a caddy for a period of time. Luckily I've been given the go-ahead to chase that goal this summer so I might just be headed back to Ireland very soon!

Currently the two options that I have are Portmarnock and Bandon Dunes. I'd love to come back to Ireland but the sticking point are the logistics behind the trip. This post came to be because I was hoping that someone might have a lead on a room for rent (or something similar) within biking distance of Portmarnock. I learned last trip that insuring a car on an American license is problematic so living close is critical. I've reached out to a few other clubs but Portmarnock seems the most receptive (I actually have a free place to stay 15 minutes from Ballybunion but they aren't in need of a new caddy!)

If anyone has any leads or ideas for me please feel free to shoot me a PM or post it up here! Thanks in advance for your time and I hope to see you all again very soon!

welcome back Hunter, weak Euro means plenty of your countrymen expected to be golfing in Ireland this summer.

Daft.ie is a good place to start

Thanks! I've been rummaging through daft.ie and I've got a few promising responses. It's difficult to base a decision like this on a few pictures, a price, and a map but that might end up being the route to go.

Question for ya'll! Does anyone have a bike that they would be willing to sell/rent to me for about 4 months?

Ah here. Break out the violin why don't you. A bike to sell or rent for four months ??? Are you for real or what? A push bike would hardly cost any more than 100 euro. Especially if it was only for four months a pretty basic one would do. Nothing worse than people trying to take advantage of hospitality. Which you were shown plenty of on your last trip if my memory is correct. Go easy on people's generosity there now 'Hunter'

Ah here yettie - " leave it bleeding out " :P:D

The last story here from Hunter - was the best we ever did here - it is rare there is any form of commonality or good will.

It was so poison here for a while. So a nice story is a nice change.

So - I can give you a bike Hunter - one condition, 200 euro at 5 % apr and free rounds on any course you design in future. ;):D

    All joking aside

Here, there must be 10 Halfords around Dublin, and plenty accessible by public transport.

For what you need you'll do no better to sell or rent.

Not sure how I'm taking advantage of hospitality by offering to pay someone for a bike...so I'll just let that one ride. Figured it might be an opportunity for someone to make a bit of cash off of something they won't be using.

Thanks for the link (and the sarcasm) there guys. I guess adverts.ie is like our Craigslist. I've never heard of it before so that'll be a good place to start. And Fix, you've already got that free round in the bank! I just have a bit of work to do before I can set you up on said courses. :P

Good luck to you, bring your sunblock and raingear, you'll need both (on the same day). Adverts.ie or donedeal.ie is your best bet for a bike to buy and then sell when you're finished with it, adverts will have better photos though!
