Thinking of getting a seat or vw with the 1.4tdi engine...can anybody tell me if this is a reliable engine or what to look out for? Also what kinda mpg would thses get in likes of an Ibiza

Some vw tdi's in recent years seem to be a bit hit and miss in terms of reliability

Had a drive in a 1.4 TDI last year and thought it was terrible, I think this was 75 BHP but according to the VW configurator the one in the comfortline is 90 BHP.....so maybe better, I dont like the idea of an 3 cylinder diesel engine no matter how many balancer shafts they may care to fit to it, I also drove a brand new 1.2 TSI, also 90 BHP but with lower torque (obviously), 160 NM vs 230 NM for the diesel but it was a cracker to drive, very responsive and free revving. I certainly wouldnt go for that diesel except fuel economy is an absolute priority with you.
