    Anyone watching this?

The first episode of the second series aired tonight and I enjoyed it.
Felt the dark-haired lady hit the nail on the head when she said she felt the local MP was only on the street because of the programme and she'd never seen him before.
Felt sorry for the blonde woman with the disabled son; my heart went out to her.
What did you make of tonight's episode?

Is it all new characters or same as last years?

I wonder how Channel Four gets the support of the residents. Last night they were attacking journalists but they were fine with the crew for Channel Four filming.

Probably a nice filming fee each they receive, can't see any other reason why the would do it.

The journalists did come across as complete tossers. Delighted when the young fella chased them with the bucket of paint down the street lol.

New characters and a new street too. In Stockton.

The journalists were repugnant, the laws governing journalism in the UK must be god awful. It's shocking how much they get away with.

Also I thought it was a bucket of urine right?

Urine  . Also did you see what the papers printed on the front page "We had Black Dee We had White Dee Now we have Orange Dee" to a mixed race Indian woman without even checking her heritage. Could that not be constitute as blatant racism.

Surely it is, that poor woman didn't have a clue what was going on half the time too. I hope it shows people how much the press can just print vile lies and insights hatred and racism without much consequence!

I know we're only one episode in and my opinion will probably change, but so far the residents are a lot more likeable than the first series.
I thought it was disgraceful that the press called that woman Orange Dot.
And she was so nice to them too.

I always find myself a little bit envious at the sense of Community on these streets!

I thought it was far more watchable than last years.

The chap who was doing bongs and 10 diazepam before going to court on the bus was very amusing throughout the episode.

I watched it and it sickened me.
    Poverty porn, be gone.

This was real life for people. Ok, not for me and you.
But its a reality. And I loved how the MP showed up and did feck all only showboat and mitigate.

I wonder how many times that MP visited that woman(and cheek of the fecker asking if "she wanted to be famous") with the severally disabled child had offered assistance? Loved how he was trying to quash the whole thing. Suitable agenda Mr Mp?

The paps were shameful, treating peoples lives(irregardless of social circumstance)as fodder.

    My 2 cents?
You want a society where things have gone to the dogs(USA, I'm looking in your direction), well then you get what you wish for.

I actually found this episode quite upsetting.
When you see the wealth that is in the UK and in the wider Stockton area, it is appalling that there are people living like this.

I am all for personal responsibility for your situation... but come on... is this all their fault?

I didn't like it as much as the first series so far, I feel it is being spoilt my the "journalists" sticking their beaks in. I blame the people that buy those rags though. Stop buying, they will go out of business.

Wasn't there another series recently where they kept trying to talk to one resident and all the others were ganging up on him for it, not Benefits St though..... All these shows are becoming a blur at this stage

Yes Immigration Street, they pretty much had to abandon filming.

What stuck out the most was the young lad openly inhaling drugs and the poor woman who was racially abused by a scummy tabloid newspaper.

The lad who deals/takes the drugs was on disability benefit but you could see him do a hand stand.

yes but his disability, at least in his head, was that he forgets things....little wonder with all those drugs

Strangely enough he didn't seem to forget who owed him money... memory was perfect there... he nearly done his nut freaking out about some fella that had short changed him or left him short money there on the clip at the end of the episode. 35 years of age they said this man was, ffs. I am looking forward to the next episode. I hope Channel 4 have maintained their learnings from the last series. Because last year was stomach turning in a way.

Would love to see a tax dodgers street or a cronyism or nepotism street and the impact that has on people, particularly that young lad who was entirely disabled.

I does seem somewhat different to last year's. Without being judge and jury there were a fair more on last year's who seemed to be the 'scrounger' type than there does on this year's to be fair (although only one ep in that could change). That MP though. Not surprised in the least to hear that he had never been down the Damn street. Then to come down and said they were all being exploited. How the f would he know. And saying to Julie was she on it to be famous. Urgh
