I have an e46 BMW 320 that I want to service. Is castrol edge 0w30 the oil to get? And how much? Can it be bought online? Think I need 6.5 litres for the 2.2 litre engine and it appears to be 16quid a litre which is very expensive

Whatever oil you get look for it being suitable for bmw engine.
For mine it is BMW LL 04 full synthetic
then you can pick the oil weight.

I get my oil from micksgarage correct weight and spec for my e39 525i

I use castrol 5w30. If your engine burns a lot of oil (the m54 engine can be a notorious oil drinker) I'd recommend 5w40. Try the 5w30 for now and see how the oil consumption goes.
