Hi this has been actually confusing me the last few weeks and might sound weird/ stupid but if the yes vote wins and lgbt people can get married.

How do they pick their last name or does it change e.g two men marrying their last name's are Boyle and Thompson do they double barrell or just choose one????

Same way a hetero couple decide, I'd guess?

It is usually down to a couples choice. There's no 'rule' about it. Many couples I know keep their surnames.

Every couple is different. Some might not change at all, change to one, double-barrel, combine and make a new one. Like above, a conversation more and more heterosexual couples are having these days too.

I'm in a civil partnership and we each kept our own name. Our names sound very clunky as a double-barrel and neither of us wanted to give up our own name, so we stayed as we are.
