Is there any way to remove black heads? I have tried several products but none seem to be very effective..
They seem to be quite deep and can only be removed by squeezing them out.
If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated as this is something I really want to get on top of.

I had a blackhead on my lipline recently and I actually Googled how to remove it.
I ended up following this advice and it worked:

(It's for the lipline but I don't see why it wouldn't work anywhere else)

Do you use toners at all? A good salicylic/glycolic acid toner penetrates right down to the pores and clears out all the gunk really effectively. Squeezing (while annoyingly tempting) is so so bad for the skin!

Can you recommend a toner that doesn't cost the earth?
    THanks,

No I haven't used one or heard of one before.
The problem I find is that the blackheads are quite deep and the scrubs don't remove them.

Maybe try a deep cleansing facial in a salon if you can afford it
Microdermabrasion is very good for lifting blackheads as it deeply exfoliates

Youre much better off with a chemical exfoliant tbh
Most of those scrubs are pretty useless and may even irritate your skin.

I use a face mask by soap and glory for black heads.

    http://recommender.com.q5.r-99.com/sites/default/files/product-images/66/fabpore.jpg

It is amazing use for 15 minutes once a week (but really twice a week when I have time)

All my pores are now minuscule and no noticeable black head issues.

I am quite liberal with the amount I use but had this tub 6 months or more. My OH used it twice when I first got it for one or two that where noticeable, they never recurred.

You can get it in boots. I don't think it is to pricey.

I suffer badly with blocked pores around my mouth, chin and nose. I don't really get spots but the blocked pores are quite large and can look awful if I don't look after them.
I use Biore nose and face pore strips, Origins charcoal mask (can't remember the exact name, expensive but well worth it) and the Soap and Glory scrub your nose in it with the little pink sponge thing (I think they're actually stopped supplying the little pink sponge).
I can't recommend the Origins charcoal mask enough.
Charcoal seems to be all the rage at the minute because Biore actually have charcoal nose pore strips out at the moment too, I can't say they're any better than the original ones, they do the exact same job, I bought them just to suss them out.

Never ever squeeze spots or pores to get gunk out, I know it seems satisfying to get the gunk out but you are damaging your skin. Also, don't pick at spots or pores.

Nip+fab have glycolic pads that you use after cleansing and before serums/moisturisers. Llyods (sp?) pharmacies sell them for around €12 and Boots for €17.
They contain 4% glycolic acid so it wouldn't be too harsh or strong. Use morning and evening.

The first thing that you need to do is make sure that they are definitely blackheads and not sebaceous filaments. Sebaceous Filaments look extremely similar to black heads however they are a permanent issue caused by your skin over producing sebum and this is then oxidising to make them look like blackheads.

If your not sure how to tell the difference is when you squeeze them or pop them if they are blackheads a solid plug will come out where's are with the sebaceous filaments it will be soft and not a solid plug.

Once you have decided which they are you can then start treating them. They are both treated very similarly however one thing to note if they are sebaceous filaments they will never go away all you can do is reduce their size and visibility.

The first thing you want to do is start using a chemical exfoliant if you are not already using one. For the treatments of blackheads and sebaceous filaments I recommend that you use salicylic acid as I find it is the most effective.

You do not want to use pore strips ever as they can caused stretched pores and broken capillaries. They will also not solve the problem at all if they are sebaceous filaments.

I have bought these twice in Superdrug on a half price deal btw - much more affordable!
