    I've just passed my theory 40/40 :-D
    I have my car already..
But nct and tax is out. Doesn't need anything for nct as far as I know but I'm just wondering step by step what I do after passing my theory test,

    1.how many lessons I need

    2.what do I need for nct ?

3.what do I need for tax

Everything I will need to do to get on the road,

    Much appreciated :)

    1. 12 lessons with an approved driving instructor. You can do more if you want, but 12 is the mandatory amount. When you have done all 12 and you have had your learner permit for a minimum of six months, you can sit your driving test to get your full license. Between now and then, you can only drive with another fully licensed driver, who has had their license for at least 2 years. You can not drive alone.

    2. You can book your car in for your NCT test here. https://www.ncts.ie/
If your car passes, you'll be given the pass cert there and then. If you aren't you'll be told what you need to get checked on before your re test.

    3. You can pay your motor tax at www.motortax.ie. You can pay it online or you can look up where your nearest motor tax office is and you can pay it in person if you prefer. If you pay it in person, you'll be given the disc there and then. If you pay it online, it will be posted out to you.

You apply for your leaner permit at your local ndls centre. Go to ndls.ie to find your nearest office and book an appointment.

You need insurance in order to tax the car. Since its your first car and your first insurance policy the insurance company may want to see a copy of your license or at least want to know your driver number.

    What I would do

1: Get your Permit from an NDSL centre (can take 2 weeks for it to be sent out too you)

    2: Insurance

    3: Tax

    4: NCT

5: Start your lessons.. have to 12 lessons and wait a full 12 months before applying for your driving test

Keep and eye out for young driver incentives with the insureance companys..can really reduce your premium and shop around

    Gratz on passing

You can do the NCT without either of the other two. But as you can't drive the car without tax or insurance, your only legal option is to have the car towed to and from the test centre.

The motor tax application form asks for your insurance policy name and number.

Most insurance polices require your motor tax and NCT to be up to date for the insurance to be valid.
