Just bought an Opel Insignia saloon that pops the boot from the key or manually by pressing the boot release outside the front of the boot. Just wondering is the a small button release that I can by and install to allow me pop the boot if driving the car for a person outside??

For some reason the hatchback and estate have an exterior button but the saloon doesn't.

Any solution to it in terms of getting some sort of manual switch installed inside the car to press to pop the boot?

should be possible alright. You'd need to get an auto electrician to rig something up. I can't see it being reasonably priced though.

I wonder why it hasn't got a button under the badge from factory. I also wonder if the badge from a hatchback could be swapped and whether the wiring is already there for a switch....

Surely if it were that easy they'd have done it from factory

There is a button under the badge on boot of saloon, however not sure if you can open the boot when the keys in igition or car running.

Yeah that's my problem. Boot won't open when the key is in the ignition.

At least with the Astra they auto lock. Hit the unlock button inside and you can access the boot.

That might be an option actually, if you press the unlock button on dash it may release the boot.

Never tried all this on mine have to have butchers in book tomorrow.

You can do this on my wife's Insignia hatch too. I've never come across the problem of being unable to open it with the keys in the ignition.

I want to be able to physically pop the boot manually inside the car? I know the boot can be opened by pressing the badge outside. But with my last car a vw passat i had a flick switch down at the side of my seat that when pressed would physically pop the boot for me if required. Any way of achieving this with a saloon Insignia?

Not that I know off but hers is a hatch. Is it worth all the effort to save someone pressing the button on the boot lid ?
