Best (strongest) antiperspirant that doesn't require a prescription

This has probably be asked before, but I wonder if anyone can recommend a a strong antiperspirant, that doesn't require a visit to the doctor to get a prescription. I don't mind having to buy them in a pharmacy. I've noticed that normal ones aren't very effective, especially on my back. After the gym I can feel the sweat, drenching my tshirt, and it does get relatively embarrassing, of course!

    Any recommendations would be fantastic!

I’ve used Driclor in the past to good effect. I use Anhydrol Forte now as it comes in a 60ml bottle (3 times that of Driclor) as it’s better value.

Hmm, I'll check it out - how do you use it? Might be a stupid question, but would you apply it multiple times a day, say for instance, when I'm finished in the gym and reapply, or do you just use it daily? Do you find it effective for just your armpits or is it equally as good for other areas, like your back? That's my biggest problem area.

I only use it on my armpits every few days. I use in conjunction with Sure. Don't know if I'd cover my back in it as it is quite potent. Ensure your skin is dry when you apply it!!

Not that I've noticed and I've been using it for years.

    What Sure do you use?

Sure for Men. I forget the exact name. Tin is black, silver and green. Don't think it affects things hugely.

Mitchum must be among the strongest brands of antiperspirants out there.

Mitchum stick is top notch stuff. http://www.boots.ie/en/Mitchum-Advanced-Stick-Clean-Control-41g_1484964/

I can't recommend Mitchum roll-on because it stains shirts.

    I find Sure roll-on good. http://www.boots.ie/en/Sure-Men-Adventure-Anti-Perspirant-Roll-On-Deodorant-50ml_1267844/

Is an anti-antiperspirant one that is designed to make me sweat more?

    Do you use sprays?
if so, switch over to roll ons.
+1 for Mitchum from me too.
it may sting a little when using it first.
also, as mentioned above , it can stain, so you may want to wear a light white Tshirt underneath if it's a good shirt.

You apply it before you go to bed. It's very strong and can irritate the skin a lot. You definitely need to be bone dry when you apply it. Also try not to scratch if it feels itchy, because it'll end up stinging like ****!!

It works great. Not sure I'd use it on my back. No reason why you couldn't though.

+1 on the Mitchum. Roll on and stick are great. Spray no use

    +1 for drychlor.
I don't have to apply it for around a month after each application and I use normal deodorant in the meantime.
I have tried michum and the likes before and got nowhere with them although if you get a sweaty back during exercise, that isn't really a problem so I don't know if antiperspirant is called for there, its more if you're still sweating outside of the gym.

Isn't this kind of normal after the gym?

Another vote for Mitchum here, I use the 48h unscented spray and find it great. It says it's for women on the can but there's no smell at all so I'm not sure where that comes from.

You could also look at the tshirts you're wearing. Anything with polyester is a bad idea, pure cotton is better but there are other moisture wicking fabrics that you might find useful.

How long does it take for the Driclor to work or is it very variable?

It takes a few minutes to be absorbed into your skin if that's what you mean.

Sorry should have been clearer. Started using it last night (wedding in 6 weeks).

When should I know it its been in any ways successful?

I just noticed myself sweating less. Just apply it every few days as per the instructions.
