Assault conviction, appeal and civil matter

    Hi Guys,

First off im not a scumbag, I had no criminal history prior to this incident and id appreciate at least the benefit of the doubt as I find it very embarressing, all id like to say regarding the matter is you wouldnt believe the incompetence of the prosecutor and the plaintiff, I will leave that at that.

    - I was convicted of Assault Causing Harm Section 3 and given a suspended sentance in a district court.

    - I have lodged an appeal but am not sure whether to go through with this for a number of reasons including, publicity? will it be in front of a jury? do I have any realistic chance of having the case turned over? There were calls for this case to be thrown out in court first time round.

    - Civil matter(this is thinking very far ahead now) - regarding a civil matter if i was per say to have been ordered to pay X amount of thousand to Joe Bloggs and i resided in another EU state how likely is it that a European Order for Payment would be issued?

    - Also regarding a spent conviction even though this is the first time in my life ive even been arrested and I am in my late 30's from the research I have done this conviction will never be spent as it is an offence against the person, unbelievable really.

Badly needed advice and id much appeciate I am taking legal advice on the matter but I am open to alot of advice as well as legal advice.
