Injured sheep in a sand and gravel quarry

I've just returned from a walk this evening and spotted an injured sheep in a sand and gravel quarry. To me, it looks like the sheep may have been attacked by a dog - the upper part of its front left leg is in quite a bad way! The Curragh is about 2 - 3 kilometres away and assume that's where it has come from. I've been about the Curragh to see if there was any farmers about, but haven't had any luck. I've tried to contact two animal welfare shelters, but haven't had any luck there either. I'll try to contact the animal welfare shelters again in the morning. Any advise would be appreciated.

P.S. - there was a Rottweiler mooching about the quarry this evening and it may have been the culprit, but there's the possibility that it may have fallen down one of the quarry faces - I'm not sure?!

animal welfare organisations don't really give a monkeys about injured farm animals.

were there any colour markings on the sheep?

I've been in touch with a local sheep farmer and he's going to give me a shout in the morning, so hopefully we'll get things sorted.
Thanks a million ganmo for your help!
    I'll keep you posted.

I went down to the quarry with the farmer this morning, and thankfully the ewe was still in the same area. He reckoned it was a dog attack all right. Her front leg was quite bad and there was a tear in one of her rear legs too. He was confident she'd be grand though. Apparently there are three german shepherds (all owned by the same person) in that area that have killed sheep on him in the past.

Anyway, the job's sorted - done and dusted.
Thanks once again to ganmo for your help - fair play!

    Yeah, I've been here before!
A lamb got itself into bother last year and I did what I hope most other people would do.
To be honest, I couldn't have walked away from that situation last night - I just had a horrible feeling those dogs would be back to finish her off.
