Used quad/atv

I'm looking to buy a good used quad. I'm a first time buyer and would appreciate any tips/advice on questions to ask and problems to look out for? My budget is about €1500
I was thinking of a 250/350 cc quad. It will be used for light farm work like herding stock and light trailer work (moving a couple sheep around).
Any makes-models to look out for??

Yamaha bruin/honda fourtrax, both come in 250cc 2wd and are perfect for stock herding and will pull a small trailer no problem. 1500 probably stretching it, 2000/2500 will get a lot better cleaner one if you know what your looking for. Run an utter mile from any Chinese crap, and if your based along the east/south East there is a huge shop with loads of quads, flatout advertising on DD, the name of it rhythms with "duck and run" ha, avoid like the plague also!

I'd say mcgov is long gone from here.

Only a matter of time before they move and rename themselves again.

Stick to 2wd, 350cc max...Make sure it has a manual start as back up.....would find it very hard to pass up honda....big red older bike but bullet proof..

    Quad Kawasaki KLF300 4x4

A neighbour has one of these and it seems to be a great ol bike. Parts are supposedly a little more awkward to come by but the Internet has more or less fixed that problem

    I have a kawasaki klf300 2wd, runs great, made in 87.
No problem getting parts, bikeworld on the long mile road can order any kawasaki part, they don't do quad repairs and I get the part number from some Dutch site.

Suzuki Ozark 250. good quad. most Hondas decent
Don't deviate from the big 4- Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki
factor in price of tyres if worn. also look for play in steering joints and 4wd if it has any. im only guessing. Check 4wd working/ diff lock etc . gears working ok. starts from cold. check engine isn't warm when you arrive

We've a bruin 350. Brilliant machine bought it new in 2004 we traded in a 96 Honda big red 250. Got lots of hardship and ended up on its side multiple times. Only thing that seems to give bother are the front breaks. Other than that I couldn't fault our quad for service and reliability

Will the bruin pull a fertilizer spreader? I'm looking at one at the moment
