Advice about applying for a part time job in Dublin

I'm a 23 year old student and I've had no luck with finding a part time job in Dublin. I pick up temporary work during the summer and christmas but can't seem to find anything more permanent.

I've applied for a load of things online in the last 6 months alone and this leads to nothing at all. Unfortunately I have neither retail or restaurant experience so this automatically rules me out for most of those jobs. I was thinking of maybe getting some work experience in either of those areas.

I don't feel I write a particularly good cover letter nor is my cv that good. I'm just wondering what advice if any some of you would have for me?

    Thanks. :)

  • Have you tried any places in person? I know it can be tough but for those kind of jobs a lot of the time you need to go into the store, ask for the manager and hand in a CV.
