Brakes wearing at angle

    Hi,

got new pads and discs (front) in august of last year. Car is a 2006 Golf MK 5. I recently noticed loud intermittent grinding noise coming from front right of car when driving at slow sleep (not braking). Jacked car up and spun front wheel, can hear this grinding noise still. Looking at the front pads it appears they're literally touching against the disc, no gap whatsoever. Is this normal? The back ones appear to have a few mm gap.

Also, looking at both front pads, they're wearing at an angle. Rear ones are normal, both front are wearing at and angle. Pictures attached. Any advice please, should I be bringing them back to the place that fitted them for replacement?
    thanks

On the rears yes that is normal.

On the pictures of the fronts that is also normal. That's the normal shape of the pad. It was made that way.

Thanks George, that rules that out as the cause. Is it normal for the front pads to be literally touching against discs? And grinding noise when I rotate the wheel with car jacked up ?
    Many thanks

Apologies I misread your original post and thought you were describing worn out pads on the rear! That will teach me to skim read!

Anyway, yes it is normal for there to be no visible gap between the pad and the disc and a certain amount of noise when spinning the wheel by hand is also normal.

However, the grinding noise obviously isn't normal so something must be amiss!

Possibly a tiny rock stuck, a mech will know as soon as car is up on a lift.
Or do you want to try to have a look DIY (as you posted in DIY forum)?
