    Hello guys. I'm new to boards.ie and needed some help re. hen party that I'm planning for my twin sister in March next year! Has anyone been to Carlingford Lough for a hen or Westport? Living in Galway so that's out of the question and the bride to be has been to Carrick on Shannon many times. Any feedback would be great! Thanks:)

    Sister recently organised a hen to carling ford and it was a disaster honestly. A lot of their hard work down the tubes with bad service.

    I'd recommend Kilkenny if you're at all open minded or gorey in Wexford. Whites of wexford do a great spa deal and there's a lovely place called primrose cottage cakes that does afternoon tea hens. Both places have a great might life.

    I lived Galway for hens, it's getting really popular

    It depends on the kind of hen you want to plan, but if you're looking for something fun I'd suggest Causy Farm in Meath. Was at a hen there last year & it was such a laugh.

    I'm gonna say Westport. I may be a litlle biased but it's a beautiful town. Loads of accommodation, pubs and restaurants. Hen nights well catered for in these places too. Wherever you go, enjoy!

    Not a hen myself but I have always been a fan of Westport, great town, great buzz, great scenery and as i am half Mayo, great people. Having said that, I was in Carlingford with a few mates on a cold Saturday last November and was bowled over with the atmosphere. The town was hopping and not a bit of hassle in any pub. If you pick either of these spots, I think you are in for a good time.

    Thanks guys for all the help! I think I had my mind set on Carlingford due to location and activities available. All in all I have seen good reviews for carlingford. Westport might be an option also. Not keen on travelling too far south as most of the hen's are from Donegal and UK and the journey may be a buzz kill! Thanks guys... Plenty of research to do! :-p

    Hi Wardb

    If you were interested in Carlingford you should have a look at www,carlingfordhenandstag,com it lets you build up packages or tailor your hen with activities to suit whatever your group wants, If you had any queries give Shane his number is on site and is very easy to deal with.

    Delphi adventure center & spa followed by a night out in Westport (easily accessible).

    Was in Carlingford a couple of weekends ago. There were at least four hen parties there and it all felt rather boring / old hat.

    I found the town very expensive for food - similar to city centre Dublin prices but not particularly fancy restaurants.

    If you're looking for a good town then try Bray. 30 mins on the train south of Dublin.

    The Martello hotel (http://www.themartello.ie/hen_stag.html) really caters well for hens - have a look at the reviews from hens on Trip Advisor. They have a restaurant there, it has the most popular bar, late music and a night club.

    Bray Adventures do kayaking and raft building or the hotel itself will organise something on your behalf.

    @zoobizoo
    Were you part of a hen group out of interest sake? Thanks for your reply!

    No, I was a visitor to Carlingford but it just looked very unoriginal. Three hens parties arrived in the pub we were in.
