Wireless alarm sensors

I'm looking at alarm options at the moment & was wondering could anyone explain the difference between 1 way & 2 way wireless devices?

What does a 2 way device do over a 1 way? Surely the 1 way communicates back to the panel that the window is left open/forced open?

    Just a bit confused :o

With one way devices the units transmit to the panel. With 2 way devices the panel is able to transmit to the devices as well.
The main difference is the devices can be programmed from the control panel etc.
