I'm interested in studying for the ACCA qualification shortly. What are the best colleges available in the Limerick region?

Griffith College was mentioned to me but I'd like to hear from anyone that has personal experience of doing the ACCA exams in Limerick?

Currently studying ACCA exams in Griffith College. Only other option is Limerick City College at the Parkway Shopping Centre or doing online courses.

Griffith College are great for getting back to you promptly regarding timetables, fees etc. Limerick City College......not so much. If the attendances for classes don't hit a certain point, the course will not go ahead. Due to this, I've been doing all my courses in Griffith College.

Now, on to the important part. Many believe that Griffith College isn't the best for studying ACCA and due to the lack of proper competition and it being the closest college for Clare, parts of Kerry, Tipperary and even Galway, they will always get the numbers for classes and don't have to worry much about quality of teaching which is a pity.

From my experience, the lecturers for the 3 courses I've done have been very ordinary. I know there are good lecturers for certain subjects, can't remember off the top of my head, but others put in very little effort. Without naming names, there has been 1 lecturer who just reads answers from the books and is unable to answer follow up questions on the solution half the time. Another lecturer just does not have a gift for interaction with students as they would almost bite your head off if you gave an answer that was wrong. Very demotivating for students. They are known as one of the best lecturers in Griffith so maybe its a one off.

That's just my view and I hope other people have better experiences but if I had a choice, I probably wouldn't choose Griffith.

    Hey Whitefire,

I just finished my final ACCA exams last December and I completed all my ACCA classes with Griffith College Limerick as I am from West Limerick. I found Griffith to be a great support with my ACCA classes and found the lecturers to be really good. I had a Business degree from UL and I received 4 exemptions so I had 10 exams left to complete. I took two exams in each exam session and completed them in 2 and half years. But to give you the heads up if you’re thinking of doing the ACCA exams you’ll need do a lot of work outside of attending the classes. Another girl here at work just started her classes in Griffith as well this year and she seems to be satisfied with her classes. Also just to note there is only on street parking so try and arrive early!

    Best of luck :):)

I did mine a few years ago now through Griffith and there was a Liam Doran lecturing on some of the subjects. Excellent lecturer and think he's running his own courses now so worth checking out. I didn't have any issues with Griffith and found them very good.

City Colleges stream and record all lectures. They have good interaction with online students, I use them and go to the actual lectures however half of their students are online only and pass rates are very good.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Between that and what others have said 2 me I'll definitely choose Griffith College for the coming year, it seems 2 be a much better fit for me as regards the quality of lectures and location. Next thing I need 2 do is put the head down and study!
