Hi All, have a 650eur grant coming my way from the job to buy a laptop, can anyone give me some recommendations on one that would be good for gaming in and around that price? Or even a good base model and then upgrade recommendations? (ie graphics cards etc.) Willing to put a couple of hundred quid in myself also if its worth it.

Ive been out of the pc gaming loop for a long while so havent got a clue where to start.

You can't upgrade the graphics card on anything but high-end laptops (and even then, most models won't).

Check some refurbished laptop sites, don't think you'll get a brand new one for that price.

Doesn't look that great tbh. Terrible screens by all accounts.

OP, if you're gonna spend decent money on a gaming machine, you'll want at least an NVidia GTX850m (DDR5), GTX860m, GTX960m or GTX965m. Anything lower is a waste of money tbh; better off buying a cheap laptop for work & a Steam machine.

Cheapest machine would maybe be this: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/form-view/SkyFireIII-14/SkyFire-III-X14/

Asus ROG GL551 or an Alienware 13 with IPS screen would be next step up.

It's a good choose for this price. However it's always good to put more money for have a better quality components. It depends what he wants to get.

I'd concentrate on the processor and graphics card - you can always add more RAM at a later stage.

SSD wouldn't add too much and can always be added at a later date.

Concentrate on a fast processor and good graphics card.

I got the Lenovo Z50-75 but with AMD FX processor instead, dedicated Radion card and 2GB ram + 1GB ram from APU , Plays CoD MW2 fine.
Upgraded the 8gb ram to 16gb ram, only waiting for my SSD.

Will be attaching keyboard, mouse, monitor to it so I won't be using it as laptop that much
