Online Therapy/Counselling/Psychiatry

I found this site yesterday - mymind.org. What they do is offer online therapy - in the form of emails, skype or both - for pretty reasonable prices. What what I gather you get in contact with a genuine psychiatrist.

I've been aware for quite a while now that I need to give therapy another try and money's a bit of an issue to be honest, so I was just wondering has anyone ever gone this route or something similar?

Any advice or insights are appreciated!

    Thanks!!

I wonder would you be better off posting in the Personal Issues forum? We are mostly counsellors/psychologists/psychotherapists here.

By all means move it if you think it should be there instead - I wasn't really sure where to post it to be honest.

Mymind's fees for Skype sessions are no different from their fees for face-to-face sessions as far as I know. So the money should not be why one chooses an online option, although perhaps geographically you are not close to their centres.

Also, you mention you get in contact with a genuine psychiatrist. Mymind does not have a psychiatrist (a psychiatrist being a medical doctor who specialises in mental health problems).

Yeah, I'm no where near a centre so I thought this would be a decent alternative.

I thought they employed psychiatrists. How do they operate so?

They have psychologists, psychotherapists, and coaches. But since you mentioned you were interested in therapy then them not having a psychiatrist maybe isn't a big deal.
