Have already posted this in Jobs forum ( sorry for double post) but am hoping might get some more information here.
Basically the agency I have worked PT with for about 6 years just ceased trading today.
I am owed wages for last week and am just wondering is there much hope I might get them?
Currently there is no information regarding receivers or liquidation etc. Actually no information at all apart from office locked up, no wages in bank and no one is answering the phones.
How could I find out if liquidators are being appointed and who they are etc?
Never been in this situation before just trying to get some information on what could happen, things I need to do etc.
assuming there is anything I can do besides grin and bear it:(
Any help greatly appreciated received twenty phone calls this evening from other staff members and no doubt might receive a few more, would just like a few pointers please

The law here is not good. When a company stops trading there is no automatic liquidation, unless thecompany allows a Voluntary liquidation someone will have to petition thehigh court which cost money. If the company has floating charges against itsomebody might appoint a receiver and you in preferential category might getsome money that way. However if it is just an agency they might not have anycharges against them. Best thing to do is call all the other employees together and get a solicitor between you. Then try find out who the company creditors are and see if one of them will take a case.

Always worth remembering that you are a creditor of the company.

OP - Have a look here.

I should think you WILL get your wages, but it might take a while. In any case, employees would be preferred creditors and would be the first to be paid.

I'd try to find out who the liquidators are and get in touch ASAP to stake your claim.

As I said there is no automatic liquidation someone one has to appoint one either the Company or court.
