Company closed, should I just kiss owed wages goodbye?

Basically the company I worked for ceased trading today. I am owed a weeks wages and just wondered if there is any chance I might get them? It was an agency, worked there PT for a number of years. Just finished working a long week for the at a racing festival last week.
Obviously no one is answering the phones etc. No e mail to staff telling us what happened etc, just office locked up and one of the managers said they ceased trading today. No other info beyond that.
Have I any recourse for wages owed? Or should I just suck it up?
If this is posted in wrong section, Mods please feel free to move it

Employees should be priority creditors. It might take a while to sort out. Do you know who the receiver or liquidator is or have they just shut up shop and buggered off?

Also get on to the social you may have entitlements there.

apparently just buggered off or at least seems that way at the moment. Have emailed asking about receivers and liquidators etc but nothing so far. Had worked there on a PT basis last 6 years, sick is not the word. No wages in bank today for staff, office locked up. No notification etc, just poof

It happens like that unfortunately. Still pretty crap of them.

Contact social welfare they'll give you a steer on everything. I assume you'll be able to claim some sort of redundancy, open to correction on that as it's been a while since I checked.

Thanks for that MarkAnthony, never really been in this position before. I thought there might be some fund through department for enterprise, trade and employment or similar with regards outstanding wages. Fairly sure will have to register as a creditor of the company or something, just no idea how to actually go about it.
No information and they employed a lot of staff so hoping not to get lost if a liquidator is appointed.
If they come back Monday as a Phoenix company would TUPE apply even if insolvency was reason for closure?

Don't know in relation to TUPE I'm afraid. Having gone through this indirectly (a company shut down I used to be a manager in and a lot of friends lost jobs) they found that the social eventually saw them right. They were all full time though is my only concern.

Having lost my job under different circumstances, it's not as bad as you think, things work out. I know I was literally terrified when it happened to me.
