Just wondering if anyone could recommend some decent tyre brand for my mk3 mondeo, 205/55/r16.

Was looking online at brands such as hankook, kumho, firestone and vredestein.

Looking for something that will grip well in the wet weather.

Just bought my second set of kumho tyres for my Lexus. Imo they are brilliant quality for the price. My sizes are 225/40 r18 and got them for €92 each fitted and balanced. Specifically the kumho ku39.
I can also recommend uniroyal rainsport 3 tyres.

    Where'd you get them?

You could look at the uniroyal rainsport 2. 80e a corner , have them a year and great handling.

There's barums on openeo for 64 a pop, think there made by continental , great grip n last longer than continental. Plus 10-12 for fitting. My local place does bridge stones for 85 in that size which I'd pay the extra tenner for

Tyre Stop branches were selling Michelin in that size for around €80 or €90 each including fitting and balancing recently. Not sure if they are still on offer though.

80 each in tyre stop. Were still doing them last month anyway.

What michelins are they, some version of Energy Saver?

There is great value and choice in that size. Most decent tyre places should keep a good range in stock.

In addition to the Bridgestone and Michelin options already mentioned, the Pirelli P7 Cinturato is a decent tyre and should be available for €85-ish fitted and balanced.

Plenty of good tyres in that range particularly in the 70 euro plus area. It is certainly worth shopping around and chancing your arm as the tyre market is competitive e.g. I got a complete new set for 310 and he threw in a mini valet as well worth 25 euro when I told him his price was no better than another competitor in the city

Got a set of Goodyear EfficientGrip for €90 each from Modern Tyres recently. They also had Pirelli and Dunlop for the same price and Kumho for €75.

Usually get Uniroyal rainsport for that size at around €70-75 each. Best value grip on the road IMO.

Avon's are great and review very well. Unsure if they're in your size but see if you can get the ZV5's

I have Hankooks on my car in 205/55 R16. I paid €75 per corner. I think they are great tyres.

I've replaced a set of Firestones with Avon ZV1s. They're far better.

Got what appears to be a decent price for 4 hankook tyres for 75 a corner. Would like to hear what people think of firestones or kuhmo ?

do you really think good tyres are that cheap? for my 15 inches I pay 95 euros / piece and I think thats cheap I think normal price is around 125-150 is a good price for a good tyre.

Hankooks are a pretty good midrange tyre, 75 a corner is about what I'd expect to pay for a Hankook in 16's.
