I've never seen that aircraft as anything iconic or spectacular, it's like a cheap rip-off of b717, but hey.. I suppose it's the party, not the venue that counts..

    Hmm, seems interesting.

It's much older than the 717. It's a f28 modernised at that so it's origins are similarly old to the 717s DC9 origins

The Fokker 100 is hardly "a cheap rip-off of b717" since the F100 first flew in 1986 and the B717's first flight was 1998.

It is very much the venue that matters, the chance to fly the F100 without the restrictions of flying in an 'Air Corridor' is extremely rare.
This gives the freedom to display this commercial aircraft's performance capabilities.

    717 = Dc9

sorry I meant DC-9... have you been on Fokker 100? Do you actually enjoyed it? There's not a single aspect of it that I ever liked, terrible ride, no comfort, that pressurization system and air con itself feels like taken from Fokker 50, not up to the challenge of jet altitudes.. I apologize if I'm being too emotional, I appreciate the post, it's good that we get to know about these events and discuss them

    And F100 = F28

First flights are 1965 and 1967 for the DC9 and the F28 so maybe they did rip them off - but rear engined T tail was the name of the game at the time. The Caravelle which was rear-engined and mid tail was 1955, for instance; and the 1-11 was still pre-DC9 (1963)

I've never seen someone come on to a thread about an enthusiasts flight and slate the aircraft so much. Why would you actually bother?

At least it is not an Airbus.. :P

All and all, I actually like the F100. It's just a pity that KLM are retiring them soon I believe.

KLM have got rid of the 100 specifically, the little brother is going soon too though, presume you meant that

Couple of months ago Biman Bangladesh organized fare-well enthusiasts flight for their DC-10.. now that's an experience! F100? I don't know...

Id enjoy a flight on the Fokker! I guess as all aircraft become close to retirement its nice to enjoy them because the next step is a static display and history book.

I've noticed this group offering tours on Facebook, and liked their page. However, I would never book with them. Why? There is no solid contact point, only a Facebook page and a live.com e-mail; and there is never any indication of price, terms and conditions etc. Sorry - but hard earned cash is spent morte carefully than to anonymous ephemeral contacts on t'internet....

For what it's worth, I've booked one activity (a hangar tour) with them and was very happy with what was provided.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Good recommendation there. Can you advise how much the hangar tour cost?
    Was it abroad?

I have flown on F100 at least 20 times, and I didn't notice any of the stuff you mentioned above. It felt quite modern (even in the 90s) and comfortable, air con and pressurisation for the regular 40 min flight I used to take didn't seem to be an issue even at 95% humidity and 40C. 2+3 seating was very convenient.
The couple of pilots that I spoke to thought highly of especially in terms of their "manoeuvrability" (or something along those lines) but I'm not sure whether that means anything or where they just too attached to it.

Having completed 15 aviation related events, Airliner Experience have become known and trusted among the enthusiast community for providing exciting, unique events of real quality, enjoyed to many. Numbers participating in individual events range up to 40 enthusiasts at a time with 50% new and return customers each time.

On the latest Trade Air Fokker 100 Enthusiasts Flight, the price is actually on the Facebook page within the outlined itinerary provided.

Upon expressing an interest in a particular event (as requested on the advert) using the email address provided, a reply is received with a detailed breakdown of the event, including price, date, time and itinerary. A contact phone number and address is also provided as "a solid contact point".

This method obviously 'weeds' out the time-wasters as only those interested in an event receive the necessary information and contact details. It is also a precaution against spam and unwanted attention from undesirables which would otherwise surface if contact details were laid out on a Facebook page.

Hoping this clears up any 'fears' one might have regarding parting with their "hard earned cash" and to those my advise would be, continue to site on the fence and watch the world go by or get out there and enjoy the thrill of aviation - hands on.

Hardly an unbiased post considering ALL bar the quoted post have been to advertise these experiences, what's your role in this?

well maybe it comes down to operator and their maintenance - ones i've tried are carpatair, blue line and klm... to be fair to klm, the only time I flew with them on F100, we flew through some rough weather... either way, I would choose any airbus or boeing over f100 any day of the week..

Well that told me! Wait, no it didn't....

I presume from your tone that you (again anonymously) are involved in the organisation of these things - presumably at least in part to make money as no charitable donations are mentioned. Therefore I would suggest you would be better served by setting up a proper website, with proper contact details - especially if you are concerned about Facebook spamming. You know, like a serious, bona fide business does. I admit I had missed the price on the current trip, but that is the first time I have seen a price mentioned in any of the Facebook posts.

Thanks for finishing with the insult (mis-spelt - it's "advice" you give to people, "to advise" is a verb, and I presume you suggest I sit on a fence rather than site one somewhere, but hey-ho) . Way to go to encourage custom!

to tone it down a bit, I am a big fan of what you guys (airliner experience) are doing, but I kind of see what Sean is saying - if there ever is a dispute, I'm not going to sue a facebook page, now will I? A formal web page, with contacts, physical address of registration, company reg number and vat number (if applicable) would take things to a completely new and professional level.

no progress is ever easy and every good idea has it's growing pain. Keep up the good work and step it up a notch!

    Evening All,

An update on this flight...... or non flight as is the case unfortunately.

Got an email from the organiser to say that due to insufficient numbers; the flight is not going ahead. I'm disappointed but happy with the way the organisers handled the whole affair.

I only found out about it here on Boards so I'm not in any way affiliated with Airliner Experience. Hopefully another event may be organised in the future.
