Career Guidance in Munster?

    Hi all,

My fiancée is in a job she hates - the pay is good but she works terrible hours and is under serious stress. I'm worried about her health at this stage.

So, I'm looking for recommendations for a really good career guidance counsellor in the Munster area if possible (we're based in Cork), but we'd be willing to travel anywhere in the country really for good advice.
We need someone who can lay out all her options - retraining, different career paths etc.

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Not sure about career guidance think there is one in the Midlands was in Limerick as well. Plenty recruitment companies in cork city. What career is she in now and hope to go into? Its easier to get a job while in a job so best she stick it out until she gets something else lined up, best to have a job secured before handing notice in. There might be job coach services available but I am not sure of the contacts.

Avoid fas/solas/job clubs crowd they are useless. They give you the same info you could find yourself and they were of no help to me. Had a job coach for two years and never managed to get an interview. Was promised one but the business found someone else after I handed in my CV and this was for a menial office job typing in data stuff!

Is your fiancee a graduate, OP? If so, it might be worth checking with her old IT/Uni regarding career guidance. I know at my Uni, the careers service was available to alumni as well as current students, so that might be an option perhaps.

She is a graduate alright, but her college only offers Career Guidance for up to one year after graduation and she graduated about 7 or 8 years ago I believe.
Thanks for the thought though :)
