It probably won't work just patching it,everything will need to be done..
It would have to be the exact match if you do tryppatch

There are probably as many "off whites" as all the other colours in the spectrum put together. Seriously, it's crazy and unless you have an old tin with a colour ref or code, then its a big gamble and a job that will most likely painting more than you bargained for. But hey, go for it

Even if you found out the colour that still wouldn't solve it. Different brands have their own versions of each colour. For example, Dulux ivory white would be a different shade than Crown ivory white. Even worse, painting over Dulux ivory white with Dulux ivory may still be noticeable, as it could 'flash', meaning the new painted area will catch the light differently to the older area. If you want it to look as good as possible you need to repaint the whole area. 'Patch' painting rarely works, especially if you want good results. Oddly enough, cheap paint often 'patches up' better than the more expensive acrylic paints, such as Colortrend. However, I'd never actually recommend cheap paint as it only creates its own set of problems.

And just to make things even worse, even if you did manage to find the exact same colour in the exact same brand (which is unlikely, have you ever seen the size of colour charts in paint shops? there's thousands of shades out there!!), there's every likelihood that the paint on your walls has been affected by sunlight, dust, grease, smoke, etc etc etc, so the shade of fresh paint will differ from what's been there for a year or two or three.

Paint the lot, or none at all.

Magnolia is worth a try, very popular in most rentals. Very cheap too...

The dreaded magnolia, guaranteed to be a different shade from every manufacturer.

OP, just do the entire wall. You'll fly through it. Cut in with a decent brush and then take a 9" roller & tray. An hour or 2 and you'll be sitting back admiring your work:D
