I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable folk here what does a 2 in front of an EI flight number signify?
I am looking at flights from Charles de Gaulle to Dublin later this month (26 May) and there is one at 2100 and another at 2150. As it will get me in a bit earlier I'd prefer the flight at 2100 (EI2527) but seems a bit odd that there are 2 flights so close together, is there something unusual about this particular flight? Website says it is an A320 in the flight details.
    Thanks!

I think EI2XXX flight numbers are used for additional flights.

I've also seen them used for positioning flights alongside EI99X call signs.

Yes it doesn't seem to be showing up on the timetable and looking at other days that week it only seems to be on that particular date. I suppose if they are positioning a flight they might as well try to carry some passengers as well.

Not sure about selling tickets on a positioning flight. It could very well be an additional flight for some event. For example, there were a few additional flights going to Marseille 2 weeks ago to bring Leinster fans to the Champions Cup (sic) semi-final. I can't think of what it might be for though.

As above, the addition of a "2" means it is an extra flight laid on for some event. (usually sporting events) I would hazard a guess that the flights that evening are numbered EI527, EI2527, EI 529.

Yes, exactly that numbering. Well I'm booked on it now, so let's hope it's not for people coming home from a snake appreciation event or something!!
