Hi Guys,Just a quick one i was in builders providers the other day and asking about the warm boards prices etc.he was saying that only kingspan and xtratherm are certified in ireland,ie the thermal r or u value is tested ,all other boards are not guaranteed for their thermal efficiency only quoted by the manufacturer.Does anybody know if this is the case as the guy is very knowledgable, i know him a while and he wasnt trying to sell me these particular makes of insulated plasterboard.

He is referring to Agrément Certification whereby a product is tested and certified by a national authority. Without certification you're just hoping the claims made by the manufacturer can be achieved in real life and not merely in a lab or under unrealistic conditions.

I don't know the specifics but I would have thought that once a product is certified by another country with similar conditions (climate, building standards, etc) then that certification would be sufficient to give confidence in the product.
