Any Dyson product. They are a bit dearer but money well spent IMO.

Does the dyson not loose its power - im looking at getting a handheld but guys in shop said the charge is not great on them and suction is poor.

Aldi are doing a Dyson DC44 for a good price this weekend. Amazon reviews are pretty good, might be worth a look.

you could also consider the Henry, it has a bag but quite big and a removable filter that is very easily cleaned, great suction and the motor will last indefinitely without giving trouble, I have seen some that are nearly 20 years old still going strong

Are the new Henry vacs as good as the predecessors though? With their low wattage motors about 600 or 700w. I think the new model number is HVR200 A2 (older one is A1, older again didn't have Hi/Lo switch that will always come on Low).
