It's not just you. My father died 25 years ago in March and I think about him every day.
I never really told him how much I appreciated him, or the things he did for me, even though - honestly - I did get the chance more than once. I think, all these years on, that's what lingers the most.
I've come to accept his death as the years went by, but I think I've never accepted my own inability to communicate with him properly.

    Mod Note:
Tec - I've moved your post as the thread you posted to was a year old and that OP may not like being reminded of how they were feeling last year.

    Thanks

You must have been young and I think he probably knew you know.

    I am so sorry.

Even if there wasn't spoken communication if you interacted with each other then I'm sure he knew. From the sound of your post there was interaction, if he did things for you, then you were lucky, my own father wasn't around for us and couldn't seem to get past his own failings to prioritise needs we couldn't have understood.
I think the thing is, don't forward anything on or try not to hold onto negative memories of what it might have been like if it was different,it sounds like he gave love and support.

I don't think mature adults expect children to fully understand how to deal with emotions and to communicate as children mostly are not developed enough or have enough experience to understand emotions and relationships until they mature. if your father was doing things for you then be happy that he was, and by doing them that seems likely to have brought him happiness.
