Hi there, I was wondering if someone could explain the procedure for getting a licence for trailer towing with a car.
Do I need to do a new theory test or do I just head straight to the NDLS with my IDs and fee for a Learner Permit?

    This too shall pass.

Have you ever taken a theory test before for cars (BW) or for a group 2 vehicle such as a truck or bus?

    I currently hold a full licence in category B, C1 and D1.

    This too shall pass.

That doesn't answer the question- you may have those entitlements since before the flood or you may have got them last year. It isn't a yes or no situation. There are all kinds of reasons you may or may not have to complete the BW theory test now.

If you took a BW theory test at some stage and you never let your entitlements lapse for a significant period of time then you should be OK for the theory test now. If you took the C or D theory test at some stage then you won't need a theory test now. If you've never ever taken a theory test then you will need to now.

What do you mean a flood?
I have my B licence over 10 years so that was before theory testing, I did have to do theory tests for my D1 (7 years ago) and C1 (3 years ago) provisional licences. I'm assuming as BE is a new category for me and I'm guessing that yes I do need a new theory test.

    This too shall pass.

Group 2 DTT's will cover you for BE so you're good. They will still have these on record.

You just need the normal stuff. If your full licence has the correct address and the other personal details (DOB, you don't want to add a middle name etc) are OK you just need the app form, the fee and proof of PPSN (assuming this is your first visit to your NDLS office). If your address has changed then you'll need proof of the new address. You won't need an eyesight report or medical.
