Hi just got my provisional last week and am driving with my mom a lot. Have no real problems but...

When im down shifting the car kind of jumps Significantly, its not a problem with the car cause my mother has no issue with this.

Is it because im not removing my foot off the clutch quick enough?

Is it because you're simply releasing the clutch too quickly? You need to ease the clutch out fairly progressively but don't just kinda jerk it out. You need a split second to encourage the engine revs to rise and match the speed of the gearbox

It could also be that you're changing down when the car is going too fast for the gear you're going into.

Reduce your speed and after changing gear position release the clutch as you count 1, 2, 3. 1 as you start to release and 3 as your foot is coming off the pedal

slightly too fast , but you will learn the behaviour of the car in time

Yeah whats most like happening is your going too fast for the gear you changing down too. Just practise and you'll get used to it, but yes be gentle on the clutch - changing down is much harder than changing up correctly :)

This guy is excellent at explaining the behaviour you've mentioned, in my opinion.
