    A couple of points:

    - Trying to fit this in a 4m x 4.2m room. Pictured room is probably in excess of 25m2? Do you think it'll work?

    - Going to tone down the purple just a touch to make it slightly lighter. Also toning down chandelier.

    - I don't actually have a fireplace in the room. Will putting a faux chimney breast and electric fire in look the height of tacky? Really want to pop the TV in as an integrated unit. Would love practical ideas on hiding it.

    - Any idea where to buy the furniture?

Thanks in advance and I hope the interior designer doesn't mind me using their photo! Please PM me if there are any issues.

Edit: Credits as per the myhome listing.

    Guys thanks for the PMs.

I welcome PMs from interior designers although I'm 99% sure I'll go it alone, who knows though. However for general advice please do post here for others to see who might be interested in taking elements of the design.

My initial requests for PMs was in relation to copyright of the posted image, sorry for the confusion!

I have something similar in my house although slightly smaller- i contacted a carpenter & he did it for me... Is a lovely feature in the sitting room; I did use that purple in the house with grey- I now hate it so going for a more neutral colour.. i might employ an interior designer to pick the colours!

    A couple of points:

Smaller Room - I would opt for slightly 'lighter' furniture if you're room is smaller, i.e. narrower arms and less detail. The opulence of the sofa and chairs in this image are perfect for this room but might be over powering in a smaller room. Also consider going for less detailed curtains, which may swamp your room.

Toning down purple and chandelier - Do testers. Depending on the aspect of your room a lighter purple might look insipid. Chandeliers are meant to be ostentatious so small ones can sometimes look 'mean', maybe instead go for a contemporary light fitting with some glass. It will be more subtle without losing the impact.

Fake Fireplace - i wouldn't personally. Instead i'd advise installing a fabulous piece of art or a lighting feature as a focal point.

Where to buy - not sure, out of the industry a while now!

Love this. We did grey walls with a purple accent wall in our living room with white skirting boards, book shelves and doors. Looks great. Used Dulux Easycare Modernism and Dulux Moda Frosted Fig if you're interested in a mauvey purple that compliments grey.

For furniture, I would recommend trying the Beechmount biz est in Navan- we got our couch in the Furniture Design Gallery who make them themselves so they can make whatever you want - and the right size for your room.

I wouldn't get a fake fireplace tho! Would you get a mantelpiece with no fire? I've seen that look well when done right.

I was thinking of doing something very similar to the picture. A small electric fire with black surround.

I'm open to alternatives the wife really doesn't want it but I'm just not sure what we could do tbh!

Thanks for all the input folks really appreciate it!

    Go for it!
    To conceal TV:

An amazing electric fire (trust me!)

Sofa from Debenhams - they have huge sales sometimes online!

Be careful of chandelier though - might've overpowering in a smaller area.

I would get a fitter to do the woodwork. The money you will save by not getting an interior designer to choose the colours, you could buy an authentic sofa at auction, and get it re covered/restored job done on it. (Ex guy in Kenilworth Lane, Dublin 6 )
Paler colours make the room look bigger, so choose from a mix of white, cream, mushroom and another complimenting pale colour. Also everything in cream would look great, and make the room look bigger. I saw this on Francis Brennan TV show, where they did n't have a big enough budget. His interior designer Karl Fradgley said do it all in cream, it looked fabulous.
