I got my first car not to long ago and it's been driving great up until the last week or so.

It's been idling very low. It's a really pain when your in traffic as it can cut out really easily.
A friend of mine said I can adjust the idle, can someone tell me where the adjusting screw is?
I don't know much about engine so if someone could post a picture I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks! :)

There's not adjusting screw as its elecronic on that model. Do the basics first. Check Plugs and HT Leads.

As far as I know the plugs were just done for the NCT not sure about the HT leads.

I would have thought a 97 Corolla having cable thus raising tick over possible.

There is a screw indeed, but even if adjusted, the ECU would shortly act against it.

    First things first:

    - MAF sensor clean up,

    - ISC valve and throttle body clean up,

    - new air filter.

First thing I'd try. Easy and free! Screw is mainly to take the up slack in the cable, thats what I think its was for anyway. Car should idle fine with the cable removed all being well.

Plugs and leads give more of a misfire job than stalling so it's hesitant and judery pulling away, particularly if the engines cold and damp.

OP has added that plugs were recently changed. I wonder are they the right ones?

On the throttle body there's the idle speed control valve. It gets stuck so remove it and free it out with wd40. You should have no problems after that.

I am going to give this a try. Seems cheap, easy and can't do any harm.
I will report back when I'm done.

Try adjusting the cable slackness, as if the pedal was pressed slightly

I don't think thats a great idea, the car seems to be using alot more fuel then normal and I don't want that to continue.

What should I use to clean the MAF sensor, ISC valve and throttle body?

Carb cleaner for the throttle body and the isc valve.

Electronic contact cleaner for the maf. Make sure not to touch the maf sensor, it's very delicate. Spray it, and leave it to dry for 40 mins or so

    97 Corolla hasn't got a maf sensor...

Looks like you'll only need the carb cleaner so OP

You said you wanted it to idle a bit faster. I only meant a tiny bit, just take the slack out and then a touch more.

I would check the plug first since this issue has only happened since they were changed
